Goals

The objectives and priority scientific directions of INCDS Marin Drăcea consist in the fulfillment of the strategic objectives of research, development, innovation and intelligent specialization for the period 2021-2027

The specific objectives

  • Supporting the promotion of excellence in scientific research and technological development
  • Supporting technological transfer as a key element of smart specialization for increasing the economic competitiveness of the forestry sector
  • Concentration of CDI activities in areas of public relevance
  • Focusing efforts on the development of the digitization component.

Project activities:

Activity A– Supporting the promotion of excellence in the activity of scientific research and technological development through:

  • intensifying the attraction of young researchers, PhD graduates, researchers from abroad and their involvement in research projects to increase the excellence of scientific production;
  • carrying out training internships of excellence in prestigious institutes and universities abroad, access to archives, libraries, databases, which contribute to increasing the success rate of projects at national and European competitions;
  • stimulating the fulfillment of the scientific performance standards adopted at the level of the Institute and addressing some current research topics on a national, European and global level regarding the role of forests in:
  • mitigating the effects of climate change;
  • their adaptation to the action of climate change;
  • contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by up to 55% in 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

Activity B Supporting technological transfer as a key element of smart specialization for increasing the economic competitiveness of the forestry sector through:

  • staff training on the need and possibilities of capitalizing on the institute’s CD results;
  • professional training on knowledge transfer, protection and capitalization of CDI intangible assets through appropriate marketing strategy;
  • implementation of standards and regulations specific to innovation;
  • initiating innovation activities for the management and quality of the research environment.

Activity C – Concentration of R&D activities in areas of public relevance through:

  • increasing the Institute’s capacity to respond to the needs of the public sector and will be achieved through:
    • purchase of long-term archiving services of scientific results from publicly funded projects (publications and databases);
  • the purchase of services for the creation of a specific digital platform, respectively for the development of the website of the Institute and of the Forest Publishing House within its structure;
  • the development of part of the in situ and laboratory research infrastructure (pilot stations, field and laboratory equipment and instruments) within the integrated research networks at European level (ICP-Forests, LULUCF, NECD, LTER – Europe, etc.) for monitoring the condition of forests, greenhouse gas emissions and the effect of forests located near urban agglomerations, thus contributing to the improvement of research infrastructure at European level

Activity D – Concentrating efforts towards the development of the digitization component through:

  • the purchase of support services (servers, licenses, programs) and IT system maintenance for the management of operational processes of INCDS “Marin Drăcea”;
  • the implementation of specific IT applications to facilitate the electronic registration of CD information, automatic transmission including, their archiving on servers intended for these types of activities carried out within CD projects;
  • the operationalization of access to the scientific documentation existing in the Institute’s archive and the researchers’ publications throughout its existence by purchasing services for the creation of digital databases, purchasing data storage equipment;
  • CD staff training.

Expected results through the CresPerfInst Project (2022-2024)

  • the training of 21 young researchers, the attraction of 7 PhD graduates, two researchers from abroad and their involvement
    in research projects;
  • increasing scientific excellence and output by publishing more than 200 scientific articles in journals and indexed volumes;
  • mobilities for training internships of excellence in prestigious institutes and universities abroad (13 people per month);
  • participation in 20 international conferences, access to archives, libraries, databases to help increase performance
  • the creation of 20 new jobs in research and development;
  • professional training of 10 researchers on knowledge transfer;
