Short history

B.E. Ștefănești. The Ștefănești resort was established based on the Order of the D.G.G.S. no. 786792A/1954.

For the optimal development of the research activity, the resort was equipped with a material base totaling 490.53 ha of forest land, located in the north-eastern part of the city of Bucharest, in Ștefăneşti village and Voluntari city.

In accordance with the previously mentioned establishment order, the forest fund was declared a scientific reserve of the I.C.A.S., the arboretum being an object of study and experimentation for the forestry research activity.

The scientific research activity in the Ștefănești Resort had, in accordance with Law 2/1976, as priority objectives: the improvement of oak, the management of oak forests, the restoration of forests degraded by sky and hedgerows, the mechanization of forestry works in the plain area, the management of forests of social interest and pheasant selection and breeding.

B.E. Cornetu. The II Cornetu production unit originates from what were once Codrii Vlăsiai.

In 1957, the Cornetu Forestry Research Station was established with a unique profile in the field of improvement, culture and protection of poplars and willows.

In 1976, new changes were made in the profile of the resort based on Law 2/1976, through which research on wickerwork, forest protection and energetic phytomass was carried out. .

In 1986, the selection and culture of pedunculated oak was established as the main profile of the resort.

B.E. Tulcea. The production unit I Gara Codru was established following Protocol no. 2257/13.07.1988 according to ISJ Tulcea Order no. 2650/29.06.1988 by which it was transferred from the Babadag Forestry Circle to the I.C.A.S. Resort. Tulcea 471.9 ha, as follows:

-303.6 ha of U.P. III Babadag;

-168.3 ha of U.P. IV Coder.

That surface oscillated between I.C.A.S. and R.N.P. – ROMSILVA through the Tulcea Forestry Directorate between 2002-2005. In 2005, steps were taken to return the respective surface from the Silvica Tulcea Directorate to I.C.A.S.

B.E. Bărăgan. The Bărăgan resort was created in 1945, having as its research profile the assortment of species, afforestation schemes, installation and management techniques, protection works in the steppe and forest-steppe of the Eastern Romanian Plain, located between the Danube, Mostiștea, Subcarpathia and Siret. However, the first crops were made in 1943, before the official establishment of the resort.

Order 19/1962 of the M.E.F. profiles the scientific activity of the research station on the cultivation and expansion of resinous trees in the steppe, a profile that was later completed with research on the intensive forest culture (with irrigation and fertilization) of the forest fund in the steppe.

Law 2/1976 channels the profile of the research activity on problems regarding the restoration of degraded forests of brumaria oak and acacia in the resorts with low precipitation.
