General Purpose and Objective of the Program

The aim of the program was to ensure on a scientific basis the growth, capacity, quality and competitiveness of research – development and experimentation for the sustainable development of the forestry sector and the increase of its economic competitiveness. In this context, Romanian forestry research will contribute decisively to ensuring the biodiversity of forests and their sustainable management for the generation of resources and services.

 

The program had an integrative multi- and transdisciplinary character and included applied, fundamental, industrial and experimental development research activities, not addressed in sectoral programs until now.

The fundamental objective of the program consisted in “The contribution of research-development and innovation in forestry for the sustainable management of forests in the context of socio-economic and environmental changes”.
