General Purpose and Objective of the Program

The program aimed to increase the economic competitiveness of the forestry sector and the quality of life to contribute essentially to the development of new products and high-quality services for a diversified demand and an increase in the needs of society based on a source of renewable raw material. In this context, Romanian forestry research will contribute decisively to ensuring the stability, biodiversity and increasing the functionality of forests for the generation of resources and services.

 

The program had an integrative multi- and transdisciplinary character and included fundamental research, industrial and experimental development activities, not addressed in sectoral programs until now.

The fundamental objective of the program consisted in “Increasing the capacity and competitiveness of research – development in forestry for the sustainable management of forests and increasing the quality of life”.
